In a world of achievements, records, and hunger for conquest, we might have lost touch with what it was that made us want to discover the outdoors in the first place. The enthusiasm and curiosity of child's play was most likely our first true experience of the outdoors. And as serious as we need to consider safety, performance, and protection, it might be time to put the fun back in functionality.
